Hello, my name is Magda Goodin. I was born in Brazil and immigrated to the United States in the year 2000. Moving here has been a life-changing experience with lots of challenges.

As the oldest sibling I decided to follow my own path by working in accounting and human resources since I didn’t have an entrepreneur mindset. A few years later I decided to follow my dream to come to America to better my situation.

I arrived in America in the year 2000 with only a few dollars in my pocket and a desire to learn as much as possible. I couldn’t speak English and had only a few Brazilian friends to help me.

I quickly learned my way around Atlanta and realized that America was the land of opportunity if you were willing to work for it. I worked long hours each day cleaning houses and working in the fast food industry to make ends meet.

In 2007 I was approached by my esthetician to join her waxing business. At the time I had no idea how to wax, plus I wasn’t sure if it would be a good fit for me. After a short period I decided to go to work for her. It wasn’t long after joining her company that I found my true passion… Waxing!

In 2008 I entered cosmetology school and quickly graduated in 2009 as a licensed esthetician. Unfortunately that same year I lost my mother. She taught me so much and always encouraged me to conquer my dreams. Looking back I realized she didn’t have the means to afford additional luxuries in life to make her feel good about herself so that is why I wanted to become an esthetician. I want my clients to feel good after they have a waxing service performed. I wish my mother were here today to experience the little things in life that truly makes someone feel better and see how far I have come since those days back in Brazil.

From 2009 to 2015 I worked in the industry under great leadership before deciding to move on and become my own boss.

In 2016 I made one of the hardest decisions of my life. I decided by faith to open my own waxing business and become the entrepreneur that I had always dreamed of becoming. Today I am the proud owner of my own business called Bodyzilian Wax. If it wasn’t for the drive that I learned from my mom and dad as a child and the loving support from my two beautiful children and husband, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Growing up was very difficult. My mom and dad had seven children and made very little money. My dad was an entrepreneur and owned a small grocery store. My mother assisted him with the day-to-day operations to help make ends meet. On the weekends, the whole family came together to promote bingo to help with extra expenses.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, cooking, working in my yard and enjoying all of the great ambiance Atlanta has to offer.

If I could share just one thing know that I am Brazilian by blood but American by choice! I love and respect this country and am very grateful for the opportunity it has provided my children and me.

Waxing is not a job… it’s my passion!  I look forward to welcoming you as a client!
